Birthdays and food

Today is my birthday. As you know, I am following a weight loss regimen. The birthday usuals like cakes etc. have been ordered. I cut the cake last midnight and the morning. Having been on this diet for a month, I realize while cake cutting feels nice, having a lot of it does not really do anything to the celebrations.

Whats the point of stuffing so much of sugar in your mouth? Birthday is all about celebrating your existence hopefully healthy existence on this planet. So, it is better to refrain from excesses and not regret the next day.

I am not saying that we should stop all indulgences. No, I don’t plan to do that. I will indulge but into something that is tasty and healthy at the same time. Perhaps a salad or something nice that does not sabotage my efforts completely. This birthday, I want to listen to myself and my body for a change instead of listening to the age old belief that birthdays are meant for insanely sugary uploads.

What do you think?
