Do the foods you eat love you?

Do these foods love you?

Human beings are strange creatures. At least that is what I have discovered in all my years of existence. We eat when we are happy, we eat when we are sad, we eat when we are upset or mad or celebrating or even when we want to express our love to some one. So, in effect, we eat on every occasion and non occasion in our lives.

When mothers want to express their love for their children, most of them would cook rich, fatty foods. Feasts often comprise of fried foods, sweet foods that are bursting with sugar and fats. When we go out with our friends, we splurge on foods like burgers, patties, cakes, pastries, pizzas, pastas, ice creams and every thing else that you can think of.

But have most of us wondered if the foods that we eat during these occassions really love us? Have you ever thought whether the foods that you are indulging in with your loved ones really love you? What are those foods doing to you? Do they make you feel better the next day or give you a belly ache or an upset stomach?

Some how, the whole idea of celebrating an event using fatty foods seems so paradoxical! We or our loved ones express our love to each other by making them eat foods that don’t love them in the first place! We add oodles of fat and butter in those foods to make them tasty not realizing the harm that we are doing to the very people we love!

Yes, its okay to occasionally eat these foods but what does occasionally mean? Does it mean once a month or does it mean once every week? The interesting bit is that if we don’t want these foods to harm us, then we must exercise the next day, burn calories to get these out of our systems! Does that not sound strange?
So, the next time you go out and celebrate, just ask yourself if you are really feeding your body the food it deserves? Is this the reward you seek for doing something amazing or working so hard?
